Lesson Contract & Agreement - Studio & Lesson Guidelines for Participation
The contract or agreement for lessons exists so each student and parent is aware of the expectations and is clearly presented with the goals for both individual personal practice as well as the lesson time.
Lesson Times are 30 minutes, 45 minutes, or one hour.
The allotted time includes getting settled into the lesson area, unpacking the instrument and any conversations or questions between the student/parents. In the event that the teacher is delayed due to obligations, previous lessons, or traveling traffic, etc. the fee will be calculated and subtracted accordingly, unless the student/teacher agree to hold the lesson for the full time from the time of arrival. Likewise, early arrival and start of the lesson will end after allotted time from arrival. Prompt attendance is required.
24 hours notice for canceled lessons. Lesson cancellation is only valid if you receive a reply or confirmation from the teacher or JustMusic. If you have to cancel a lesson, please let the teacher and JustMusicLLC@gmail.com know 24 hours in advance, then the lesson will be excused. Otherwise, the fee will be required for the missed lesson. Any further allowances will be left to JustMusic discretion.
Lesson Termination. One month notice is required for lesson termination, this is out of scheduling respect for the teacher and studio time. If parent chooses to terminate lessons due immediately, the one month of lessons will be billed accordingly regardless of attendance.
Past Due Tuition. Tuition is due before the lesson by the 1st of the month. Late Payment after the 5th of the month is subject to a $20 late fee.
Parent Involvement is expected. Active participation at the lesson and home practice is required. Parent is expected to take notes and observe. Parent will be given opportunities throughout the lesson to ask questions. Parent is required to be respectful of the time between the teacher/student and should not interfere with the learning process.
Behavior. Students are expected to be respectful, responsible, and polite during lessons and while at the lesson facility. The teacher reserves the right to remove a student from the lesson due to behavior issues.
Practice time during the week is expected. The amount will be based on recommendation, student dedication and schedule. Lack of practice will only hinder progress and preparedness at lessons.
Teachers keep the individual goals of the student in mind constantly. This methodology does not limit the genres of music a student may learn, just provides a solid foundation on which a student may progress. Teacher/student discuss and track progress/goals along with incorporation of music theory, ear training, dictation, composition, history, and performance practice in lessons.
It is of the utmost importance that the student have a regular practice time. For most students, this means that a parent must help the child determine the regular daily time, at least five days each week, that the student will practice. Students are expected to read their notebook and complete the entire assignment listed on it at each practice session. Reading, written, and listening assignments should be completed during the week they are given. Consistent lack of preparation for lessons may result in the teacher terminating lessons.
